Overcoming Pigmentation

A key to having perfect skin is to have an even complexion. This is what most  women would love.

But for many some form of skin pigmentation is a major issue.  Pigmentation affects the colour of your skin commonly manifesting in age spots, dark spots and sun spots.

These spots in most cases are signs of ageing.

The dark patches of skin colour is from melanin.  If you have age spots you may have too little or too much melanin. Melanin is made from special cells in the skin and if these cells become damaged melanin production is affected.

It is very common to have freckles but it’s the bigger, uneven dark patches that bother people. These can be on the the face, hands, décolletage and shoulder areas.

Too much sun exposure, and specifically the UVA rays which penetrate deep into your skin, can cause pigmentation. Excess sun exposure stimulates more melanin production so pigmentation can be more pronounced. It’s very important to use  a sunscreen with a high SPF and to wear a hat and sunglasses.

If there is pigmentation in younger women then a cause can be the contraceptive pill or pregnancy when hormone levels are altered.

As people age they want to eliminate the dark spots on their face and body. They want to improve their looks and appearance, because it affects their self-esteem.

How to look young today is a mindset for many.
